Saltwater Aquarium Service, Saltwater Aquarium Maintenance Service, Saltwater Fish Tank Maintenance Service, Reef Tank service, Reef Aquarium Service, Reef Tank Maintenance Service, Reef Aquarium Maintenance ServiceRO-DI stands for Reverse Osmosis-De-Ionization system. It’s a multi-stage process that purifies tap water by removing harmful traces of metals that are present in your tap water. By forcing the tap water through a series of micro-filters to end up with pure tap water that’s safer to use in an aquarium.  Most city municipal water departments treat the water with chlorine and/or add chloramine compounds to destroy the bacteria that may be present in the raw water. The problem here is that phosphates, nitrates, and silicates are elements that naturally occur in water, and it is not unusual for tap water sources to contain high concentrations of these chemical elements. These contaminants have to be removed before you can use the water in your saltwater aquariums and reef tanks because they are detrimental to the health of corals, invertebrates, and fish. Phosphates, nitrates, and silicates  promote nuisance algae growth also.
